Ok, was supposed to meet up with amanda and benjamin today at 0850...i was late haahhs..but they came even later than me...ahahhs
We then went to meet up with their friend, aunt julia...there was not much people there initally...but the crowd got bigger after that...breadfast today! Bee hoon with fishballs...don't know why benjamin got 3 in his packet while amanda and i got 2...weird...
We were then told to gather and allocate our jobs...there were 3 different jobs i shall try to list them here one by one. Hope its correctly described..=)
1. Counter people: Serving the runners and help to give all the things needed to the runners. 2. Crew support: Helping the people at the counters to get the number tags and the bibs- which i think is used for the timing, its put at the shoelaces - and also call for the shirt sizes and get the goodie bags. 3. Backhand support: To issue the shirt sizes to the crew support and replenish bags, shirts and opening the zips from the bags.
The three of us wanted to be the people at the counter initially...but the people called for those who have not registered for jobs to go to one place - and that group later became as the ushers. Aunt julia asked us to quickly move away and move to the backhand support. Luckily, we were given the job of bakchand support. =)
There was this friend who we made when we were grouped together. his name is john, not the john from 4e1 - don't get mixed up 4e1 people! There was also one auntie who guided us to do the work. From getting the bags from one side to opening up the boxes of shirts, we managed to get everything done before the whole event started.
The bags were like a hill! I guess nobody knows if someone is buried in there..hahahs The bags were packed in bundles and each of us were given a penknife to cut open the strings attached.
What we did was that the boxes containing the female and the male shirts were seperated by a gap to ensure confusion. The bags were then put in the gap in between.
Soon the event started and things started to get busy. People from crew support continuously come out of the room - where the crew support and people at the counter were in -to take the goodie bags, shirt sizes and the number tags from the storage boxes located at the back of the room - in front of us.
Soon, we had to open up the bags and threw them at the front of the boxes to make things easier for the crew support so that they don not have to run so far away.
After sometime, i think john went off to help the crew support people and we were told to move the boxes nearer to the doors. The storage boxes containing the number tags were then pushed into the room. The bags were thrown into the place where the storage boxes initially were located. Started to feel awkward about the arrangement, but adapted to it after sometime.
The issuing of the shirts was fun! what we did initially was to pass the shirts. But after a few times of passing, we threw the shirts to those further away from the boxes. We managed to get used to the throwing of the shirts after some unsuccessful attempts.
Lunch - rice with veg and chicken.
Things started to get more busy after lunch and 2 more person came to help us...hahahs don't know their names at all..but they were of help though. We had to replenish the bags, using the trolley or sometimes by hand to get the bags to ensure enough bags for the crew support.
MY FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE OPENING UP HUNDREDS OF ZIPS CONTINUOUSLY. The crew support people wanted us to open up the zip for them so as to make their life easier. so what the other guy and i did was to open the zips. The sides of my fingernails hurt, perhaps i opened the zips too fast or too strongly... that caused me pain with my fingers after opening up the bags
I cannot really remember what happened after that, perhaps just work, work and work...
Hahas..dinner was rice + coleslaw +fish fillet + veg. hahahs that was what i can remember =)
At the night was worst, everyone became more and more busy. Cannot really remember the events...but what i can remember was that the hill of bags now reduced to a molehill...the shirts were still in stock. Hmm..sorry i cannot really remember what happened at the end, but it was rather fun over there!
Haiz, amanda and benjamin doesn't want to come tomorrow and on saturday. I asked aunt julia if i could get friends to join me. And so far zy is willing and free to join me -perhaps due to the free adidas t-shirt. Hahahahhs.
Shall quickly sleep to ensure that i can get to band on time tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
